Yas infrastructure to be ready in July
Aldar Properties has said the infrastructure of Yas Island's phase one will be completed in July
Work is progressing round the clock on phase one, which include the race track, Yas Marina, seven hotels, including Yas Hotel, the golf course, yacht club and Shahama-Saadiyat highway, so that the island can host the Formula 1 race in early November. During a tour organised for journalists yesterday, Aldar announced the completion of the flooding of the marina at the heart of the Yas Marina Circuit.
Yas Marina is the first marina to be constructed as a dry basin and subsequently flooded in Abu Dhabi. And it is the maiden facility operated by Aldar Marinas, a subsidiary of Aldar Properties. Aldar Marinas will manage the projects at the heart of Aldar's waterfront developments at Yas Island, Al Raha Beach, Al Gurm and Abu Dhabi Island.
Paul Lane, Project Director, said 90 per cent of phase one infrastructure has been completed. Infrastructure covers electricity, water, sewage discharge, road, tree-planting and other works.
Lane added that phase one of Yas Island development project forms 60 per cent of the island's overall development project.
When asked about hosting the F1 race, Lane said: "We will be ready for Formula 1 by early November, and we will complete the work in record time. We will also complete the six hotels in July."
The Yas Marina measures 115,000 square metres, contains 150 million gallons of water and has a standard capacity of 143 berths ranging in length from 15 metres to 66 metres.
