Abu Dhabi Opens Tunnel Leading to Al Maqta Bridge

The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has recently opened the tunnel channeling traffic from the extension of Al Salam Street towards Al Maqta Bridge

The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has recently opened the tunnel channeling traffic from the extension of Al Salam Street towards Al Maqta Bridge.

The move follows the completion of regular maintenance works undertaken in the context of the Municipality’s endeavours to improve facilities with a view to ensuring high traffic safety standards for road users, maintaining the excellent appearance, and keeping abreast of the urbanisation drive in the city of Abu Dhabi.

The maintenance of the said tunnel is carried out as part of the maintenance of road networks under the domain of the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City; which included renovation of lights and replacement of faulty ones, repainting of road markings & yellow line at both sides of the tunnel, refurbishing the tunnel body, repairing the concrete surfaces, and repainting & cleaning the tunnel walls.

The tunnel leading to Al Maqta is vital as it is a key corridor of traffic outbound from Abu Dhabi to Al Ain, Dubai and the Western Region. Opening the tunnel in full will ease the traffic flow and minimize the congestion on this vital road
