An open budget of Dh7 million has been allocated to set up the world's first eco-friendly business centre.
The Royal Business Centre (RBC), which can accommodate up to 56 foreign companies, was opened in Abu Dhabi Tuesday under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Mohammad Bin Murshid Al Rumaithi.
According to sources at the centre, a second branch is set to open in Qatar by November, and it will soon expand to European countries. The centre offers space for companies that wish to establish themselves in Abu Dhabi, while offering green building standards such as a lower eco-footprint, energy-efficient lighting, motion-detectors and recycling facilities resulting in maximised cost savings.
"Abu Dhabi is the centre of politics, industry, culture and commerce, possessing nine per cent of the world's oil reserves and five per cent of the gas reserves. Abu Dhabi has witnessed tremendous growth in recent years as the economy and industry of the city have been carefully developed," said Awad Mohammad Tarif Al Katbi, chairman of RBC.
"Today, Abu Dhabi boasts one of the highest per capita incomes in the world, which led us to develop a high-class business hub to integrate the companies and people involved in the business in an outstanding ambience," he added.
On her part, Yousra Al Sarraj, managing director of RBC said: "Our attention to detail and desire to provide environmental-friendly working space extends throughout our premises. Each department demonstrates our concern for the environment with use of energy-efficient lighting motion-detectors and recycled stationery."
