Abu Dhabi commits to sustainable development

The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City reiterated its commitment to sustainable development projects

The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City reiterated its commitment to sustainable development projects Tuesday.

The organisation is currently hosting a conference entitled "Geosynthetics Middle East", which is being attended by over 300 industry experts.

Abdullah Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of Municipal Infrastructure and Assets Sector at the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City, said: "The Geosynthetics Conference will primarily focus on environmentally friendly materials that can be used in the construction industry. We are using geosynthetic technology here in the UAE in building materials, pipelines and various other infrastructure projects.

"The Municipality is pursuing a leading role in adopting sustainable development policies, and drawing up strategic plans based on a methodology closely integrated between projects undertaken and services delivered."

The event, organised by SKZ, the German Plastic Institute and BMC Gulf, provides a platform for environmental specialists to exchange their knowledge and experience on geosynthetic related topics.
